Fall Magic

Here is a little painting I did yesterday , "Fall Magic." If you saw my Sunday Sketch, you'll notice that I changed it up a bit and added a little owl. I know its a bit early to do a fall-themed painting, but I just really love that time of year! I am so ready for summer to be over. Plus I am usually pretty bad at getting paintings done in time for the various seasons and holidays, so I'm getting an early start :) This one is available here in my shop.

I hope you are all having a good Wednesday!

Growing

Here is my new mixed-media painting , "Growing." She is tending to the garden so that those flowers will grow tall and strong! :) She is available in my shop.

I used scrapbook papers for the flowers. This is about as mixed-media as I get right now! :) I really admire people who can combine a lot of different materials and techniques. Maybe someday ;)

It is a little bit cloudy here today which is lovely. I love watching Jane Austen movies when it is cloudy out (or any time for that matter ) so I am watching a new BBC version of Emma while I'm painting. I really like it so far! I hope you are all having a lovely Tuesday, I'll see you soon!

Hoots the Owl

This is Hoots the Owl, wishing you a happy Monday! :) He had a little accident when we were trying to drill a ring hanger in the back of the plaque (resulting in a large crack), so I am giving him to my mom, who really likes him, flaws and all! I would like to do another version of him soon though (I was thinking maybe even a series of different colored Hoots?). I must say that he makes me giggle :) I also wanted to show you this painting I did for my stepdad's birthday, of the family dog Kino.

As you can see, I've been painting a lot of animals! I am back to working on one of my gals today though, which hopefully I will show you soon :) Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Pearl the MerKitty

I have a new little mini painting in the shop, "Pearl the MerKitty." She enjoys spending her days swimming around in the cool ocean waters and showing off her pretty pink tail :) She is available here. I have also finally created a facebook fan page! It is right here. I would really appreciate it if you would check it out, and become a fan if you feel so inclined :) I am going to spend the day (hopefully) becoming better acquainted with photo editing software, wish me luck! That stuff is definitely not my cup of tea, I just want to paint all day :) I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday, and I'll see you soon!

Sunday Sketch

Here is my Sunday Sketch, a little gal off on a dream journey over all of the trees and hills and rooftops :) This started out as a rainy day scene, but before I knew it she had closed her eyes and taken off into the air with her unmbrella! Go take a look at all of the other wonderful sketches over at Blue Chair Diary.

I also did a new mini painting yesterday of a sweet little black kitty named Olivia :) She is available in my shop.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday! :)

The Ocean's Treasure

I am back with another wooden plaque painting, "The Ocean's Treasure." I was looking at this lovely oval plaque yesterday and realized that it would be just perfect for a mermaid! She loves her shiny little treasure so much, she doesn't ever want to be parted with it :) She is available right here.

I am loving these plaques. They have such a lovely decorative quality which I love :)

It is nice and cloudy today, a tiny break fron the relentless heat. It is supposed to be monsoon season here, but we haven't gotten a wink of rain! Here's hoping! I hope you are having a wonderful Friday, I'll see you soon!! :)

Tea Time!

Here is my new painting, "Tea Time." I did this one on a wooden plaque. I bought a few of them, and thought it would be fun to try out some little wall hangings :) My boyfriend drilled a couple of ring hangers into the back for me so it can hang by a ribbon. Lucky for me he is a professional framer, so he is really good at things like that! :)

As usual my camera washed the colors out a bit, I think it looks cuter in person :) The pink is a little pinker than it looks here. This was definitely different to paint on, but it was a lot of fun! It is available in my shop.

I also wanted to show you a couple of commissions I did this week for my Dad. Below is a little portrait of my half-sister Alicia with her cat Lucas.

Then I also did a mini-painting of Lucas .

I am always thrilled to do commissions at reasonable prices, feel free to contact me if you are interested :) I am trying to decide what to start on today. I have so many painting ideas running through my head. Its great, but then I can't decide what to do! :) I'll figure it out though, and hopefully I'll be back to show you soon :) I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Little Yellow Castle

Here is a little commission I did yesterday for my friend Rachel, "Little Yellow Castle." I used to paint more castles, but somehow they fell by the wayside. I really like painting them though, maybe I'll do a couple for my shop soon :)

Well, I am going back to painting and watching I Love Lucy! I hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday :)

Ocean Friends

Here is a painting I finished this morning, "Ocean Friends." This one is 8"x8" on a stretched canvas and is available here. I added some metallic gold paint for the edges and the stars in her hair, to give it a little extra something :) I've been enjoying working with softer colors. I guess those light blues make me feel cooler in the summer :) I have also found myself drawn to the color combination of blue, pink and yellow.

I also wanted to show you a piece of my sister Michelle's work. This necklace features an enamel pendant with a sterling silver chain. She is a metalsmith and made the whole thing by hand, including the chain! You can see other amazing pieces in her etsy shop here, and her blog here. She only has a few items in her shop right now but will be adding more soon when she can get her studio set up. She is moving up to Phoenix to go to graduate school and study metals. I'm really sad that she is moving, but I'm proud of her for pursuing her dream! :)

I hope you are all having a fabulous Friday, and I'll see you soon! :)

At the Ice Cream Shoppe

Hi everyone, I finally have a new painting in my shop! This is "At the Ice Cream Shoppe." She was painted on a 5"x5" stretched canvas using acrylics and she is available in my shop! As you can see, I couldn't resist doing another pink-haired girl :) I also added some fun scalloped edges, which I haven't done in a while.

I also recieved some goodies from my trade with the fabulous Susy over at The Enchanted Pumpkin! They included a couple of cute vintage pot holders, a lovely Victorian culluloid glove box, a vintage apron, an adorable amigurumi bear, and a few extra lovelies that she threw in :) She has a lovely shop, you should check it out! Thank you so much for doing another fun trade, Susy!! :)

I hope that you are all having a wonderful Thursday, I'll see you soon! :)

Sunday Sketch, plus a couple of fun commissions!

Here is my Sunday Sketch of a little gal enjoying some soft serve ice cream on a hot summer day :) I am going to do a painting of this one on a little 5"x5" canvas. Make sure to check out all of the other wonderful sketches over at Blue Chair Diary! I also wanted to share with you a couple of commissions I got done this week. Below is "Goosehound," the adorable Basset Hound of a friend of a friend :) I had never painted a dog before so I have to admit that I was a little nervous, but I am happy with how it came out!

This next one is "A Wise Friend," a commission I did for a trade with the always super-nice Susy at The Enchanted Pumpkin. I am getting lots of fun goodies from Susy, I can't wait!! :) You should check out her shop, she has lots of adorable things! This is the first time I have done pink hair, and I loved it!! Susy came up with that idea, plus the owl and the mushroom :)
I might have to do pink hair for at least a couple more paintings!

Both of these paintings are on their way to their new homes, thank you Natasha and Susy!! :)
I hope you are all having a really fun Fourth of July! No barbecuing for us today, but we are going to go out and try to get our hands on some burgers (or veggie burger, in my case :) I'll see you soon!
