Celeste

This is Celeste! She is a little dragonfly fairy who loves to come out flying in the cool evenings to show off her delicate wings :)

This one is a 9"x12," which is actually one of the largest paintings I have ever done (though not really that big for most people :) I really enjoyed it, since I usually only do 5x7s or 8x10s. I may do some more larger ones in the near future. I fiddled with this painting for a few days--I changed the background probably 3 0r 4 times. In the end I kept it pretty simple, and decided that she looked nice against a darker background than I usually do. She is waiting for a new home in my shop :)

I also wanted to mention that I have listed four of my Day of the Dead prints in my shop today.

Well now its off to do some cleaning around the house, I can't put it off any longer :) I hope you are all having a great Friday!

The Arte de los Muertos show

Hello everyone! I am finally back to show you a few pictures from the Arte de los Muertos show which I participated in at Borealis Arts here in Tucson. Here is a picture of my little paintings up at the show. They looked so small in there! :) I am also very thrilled to say that I just found out today that all four paintings sold to one collector!! They will have some very dignified new friends as I understand that this person also owns works by Picasso and Rembrandt. So many many thanks to them, it is quite a thrill! :)

At the show there was also a little shrine where you could leave photos and other mementos of passed loved ones.

Here are a couple of paintings by the very talented main artist of the show, Carolyn Anne Anderson. I got to talk to her a little bit and she was very nice!

A graphite drawing by Matt Tucker:

This is a cool piece made by the owner of Borealis Arts, Nathan Saxton, which he made using their mat cutter and spray paint:

I apologize for not having more pictures of the overall show: There was so much socializing to do that I got distracted I guess! It was a lot of fun and such an exciting experience for me :) Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and good luck wishes!

I also wanted to show you the only painting I managed to get done last week, "Snow White At the Window." For some reason out of all of the fairytales I seem to love painting Snow White the best :) She has actually been in my shop for a few days and is available here.

And on a final note here is a little sneak peek of what is on my work desk (aka coffee table) right now:

I am still trying to figure out the background for this one but will hopefully have it done soon.

I hope everyone is having a great week, see you soon!

I also wanted to let everyone know that the Arte de los Muertos show went great and was a lot of fun! I will post a few pictures tomorrow :) Have a great Sunday!

Halloween Party Time!

Welcome to my spooky little party, please pick up the key and come right in...

There are plenty of treats for you...

But be careful lest the creepy crawlies decide to share them with you!

There are friends to be made...

Perhaps these guys were sailors on some long-lost ship?

Spooky music softly plays...

Perhaps it is playing the Dance of the Goblins...

Candles flicker...

Magic spells wait to be spoken...

Come and have a taste of the fare at Pumpkin Heads Diner!

Although it may not be to your liking...

Who is that peeking out at you?

Feel free to treat yourself to some magical tea...

Off in the corner a shy little lady remembers ancestors from long ago...

As you scan the table...

You may come across some sweet treats!

You had better look out for that Candy Corn Bandit!

These little guys don't usually share, but they will let you have a taste...

And did I just see Mr. Gargoyle swipe a candy corn?

At last we meet the king of the festivities...

He is watching over these departed loved ones...

Now it is time for you to go! I hope you have a magical Halloween...

(p.s. these cute hangable art cards are available in my mom's shop here.)

Thank you so much to the fabulous Vanessa Valencia for hosting this Halloween party! Do be sure to stop by her blog in order to visit her party and all of the other participants.

I must thank my mom and her friend Tonya for all of their fun help with this party!! Oh, and we had one more little helper...
