The Star Angel

Hello everyone! It is so lovely to be back--after having computer problems for the last couple of months it is finally fixed and we are up and running again! :)

Above is my latest painting, "The Star Angel," painted on a 7"x7" wooden plaque. I added mica glitter to her wings to add some fun sparkle. She is available in my shop.

Above is "The Gentle Forest," which I never got a chance to show you here. I am happy to say that it is on its way to a good home! I intended to get some Christmas prints and postcards in the shop this year, but with all of my computer problems I couldn't make it in time. Next year for sure!

Daniel and I were very excited to do our first Christmas tree together this year. We had a wonderful time picking out a tree, then putting on some Christmas music and decorating :) I hadn't seen many of my old ornaments for years, so it was a lot of fun to unwrap each one and put it on the tree.

And if you look closely, you can see Rosie relaxing under there :) It is her favorite new spot.

Here are a few more little decorations (my mom made the adorable card on the left for us). We have done a lot of fun Christmas activities this past weekend, including our yearly tradition of going to the Christmas parade, then coming home to watch "Elf."

It has been nice and chilly and rainy, which makes the perfect backdrop for a cup of hot cocoa and a good book (or two).

I hope that everyone is having a fun and relaxed holiday season! I'll see you soon :)

Lulu and Ginger

Here is "Lulu and Ginger", my first Christmas painting of the year! I decided to go for some bangs on this girl, I hope you like them :) I have one or two more holiday paintings planned. I am also hoping to get some postcards made of one of them, if I can get them in time! As usual, I wish I had started earlier :)

I hope you are all having a lovely Friday, and have a fun weekend!

The Blue Rose

Hi there everyone! Here is a new 8"x10" painting I finished yesterday, "The Blue Rose." I got the idea from a mystery novel I was reading having to do with a blue rose. It is available in my etsy shop.

Here are a few more things I have been up to lately: "Snow White and Rose Red" (speaking of fairy tales has anyone else been watching the show Once Upon A Time? I absolutely love it!),

A Ginger the Cat handpainted paper mache box,

And three little kitties on wooden plaques, Kiki, Ginger and Rosebud! I am happy to say that these three have found homes already, but the rest are available in my shop :)

I have been in the mood to do some baking lately. I made some pumpkin buttermilk scones the other day and I am thinking I will try a pecan pie next :)

I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

The Song Bird

I have a new painting in the shop, "The Song Bird." I painted this one on a 7"x9" wooden plaque. Wood can be such a nice change from canvas now and again, I love the smooth texture :)

I also listed a handpainted Hoots the Owl box a couple of days ago. I just love painting these little paper mache boxes.

I am in the mood to paint some little kitties today, so there should be another box and some little wooden plauques coming to the shop soon! I am enjoying a nice quiet day today, painting and listening to a book on CD :) I hope that you are all well and are having a lovely Friday!

Happy Halloween!

Hello everyone!! I know that I am shamefully behind on my blogging, but I wanted to make sure to pop in and say Happy Halloween! I hope you all are having a fun and safe evening :) I have a savory stuffed pumpkin baking in the oven and we are hoping for some trick or treaters (none so far, unfortunately). We also had a little get-together with two of our best friends yesterday, and I made some chocolate cupckaes with vanilla frosting.

Since it has been a while, I am posting some of most recent paintings below. You may have seen these already if you follow me on Facebook or Etsy. They are all available in my shop.

"The Feathered Headdress"

"The Pink Parasol"

"The Little Moth Girl"

"The Wishing Tree"

"Masquerade" One and Two

I promise to be back very soon!

Labor Day Sale!

Hi there everyone! I hope you all are having as nice a weekend as this kitty, he he :) I wanted to pop in and let you know that I am doing a little Labor Day sale in my etsy shop this weekend, 10% off anything and everything in the shop through midnight on Monday! Just enter the coupon code LABORDAY11 upon checkout.

The new little painting above is entitled "Sweet Dreams." The original is going to a wine tasting/silent auction for a wonderful local organization called Pawsitively Cats. The wine tasting is here in Tucson at CataVinos on Sunday, September 11 from 4-6 p.m. The wine tasting honors the victims and heroes of 9/11, as well as all cats who didn't live long enough to find a loving home. The money from the auction will go towards badly needed kitty eye surgeries. I am hoping to get one more painting finished for it!

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you soon! :)

Flora

Here is my newest painting, "Flora." She is painted on an 8"x10" stretched canvas and is available in my shop. I figured I would try to sneak in one more spring/summer type painting before I start thinking about some fall ones! :) I am actually a little bit behind on that this year, which is surprising because I absolutely adore fall!

This painting has been in my shop for several days as well, "The Peacock Feather."

Things have been busy around here with me taking a couple of classes and doing a bit of volunteer work, but I am enjoying it! I am also super excited about my new Epson V500 scanner (thanks to my lovely mom and stepdad who got it for me as an early birthday present!). I have not tried it out quite yet but I am really hoping this will allow me to start scanning on my own and get some more prints in the shop! If anyone else does this and has any tips I would really appreciate it :)

I hope everyone is having a lovely week, and happy September!

The Book Worm

Well hello everyone! It has been quite a while since I have visited you here! I have a few new paintings to share, beginning with my newest, "The Book Worm."

Above is "Fanny the Flapper Girl" and below are three mini paintings with easels: "The Ice Cream Cone," "The Rose" and "Teddy and Me." These are all available in my shop.

I was lucky enough to be able to take a short vacation with my sister to visit a friend in San Jose. We also went to lovely San Francisco. One of my favorite parts of the trip was visiting the Winchester house (here is a photo of me and my sister in front of it). You should try to go someday if you haven't, it is really amazing!

In other news, I was lucky enough to be able to do a trade recently with the lovely Julie from The Ruby Nest! I received this gorgeous painting "The Reluctant Consent (Waiting for the One). It is so so beautiful and I love being able to look at it every day! Make sure to check out her etsy shop and blog if you aren't familiar with her already, her art is amazing and she always has wonderful stories behind her work.

And in yet more exciting news, I have done a collaboration with Kimberlie of B.B. Bellezza! She has made some lovely pendants out of my artwork--you can check them out in her etsy shop here. She was also kind enough to interview me for her blog--if you would like to check it out it is here. Thank you so much Kim, it has been so much fun collaborating and the pendants are beautiful!

I am returning to school part-time this semester, so I may be slowing down on the painting a bit (but hopefully not too much!). My goal is to get into the Master's program for Library Science next year. It will be strange going back to class after a few years, but I am very excited :)

I hope you are all having a wonderful week, and I'll see you soon!

The Swan

Hi everyone! I have a new painting in my shop, called "The Swan." It is a 5"x7" on stretched canvas. I like how gentle these two came out looking :)

We are enjoying a nice cloudy day here with a little break from the heat! I am looking forward to a day of baking, drawing and reading in the company of my sweet fiancee :) Who could ask for more?

I hope that you are all having a nice day, and I'll see you soon!

The Garden Party

Hi everyone! I have another new painting available in the shop, this one is an 8"x10" and is called "The Garden Party." I have been wanting to do a painting with a kitty for a while (the only time I usually paint them is for commissions), and I was still in a lighthearted, party sort of mood :)

These two little friends love having impromptu tea parties out in the garden when the weather is fine! :)

I was also very excited and lucky to receive a special little gift from the lovely Kim of B.B. Bellezza...

A gorgeous and whimsical little pair of clock hand earrings!! I entered her giveaway during the Mad Tea Party and was so thrilled to have won! I can tell that I will be wearing these ones a lot! :) Make sure to check out Kim's blog here and her lovely etsy shop here, where you can also purchase your own pair of clock hand earrings! Thank you Kim!! :)

From being able to meet this way, Kim and I have also decided to do a collaboration, which I am very excited to share with you soon!

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend :)

A Mad Tea Party!

There was once a girl, who sat down to read one day and opened a very special book...

As soon as she opened it, she found herself thrown into a colorful world of wonders and delights...

She couldn't quite believe her eyes, and looked all around. Suddenly she spotted a little white rabbit. She tried to speak to him, but he seemed to be in an awful hurry...
{the rabbit was found in this lovely shop}

She spotted a very tempting little piece of cake and decided that she really should follow the instructions on the pretty box and take a bite or two (she didn't want to be rude, after all)...

After this she was quite thirsty, but luckily she found a lovely glass bottle and sipped the sweet liquid within...

She began taking in more of this strange place's beautiful things...

...when who should she run into but the Mad Hatter himself!

He made himself quite comfortable next to a large fruit tart, and kindly offered to share...

He invited her to partake in the many treats, but she had difficulty deciding which to try first...

Soon she found herself in a sweet daze of lemon drops, candies and confections...

She was getting quite full, and decided to take a break for some lovely mushroom tea...

She then spotted a red rose plant which really could use a fresh coat of paint, so out of gratefulness for the many lovely things she decided to touch it up herself...

She decided to reach for one last cupcake...

...when the little white rabbit showed up yet again! He reminded her that it was getting quite late...

...and when she looked at the time she decided that she really must be on her way.

She went to take her formal leave of the Mad Hatter...

...and then everything began to look a little blurry...

She awoke back in her home, but found the tiniest and prettiest of teacups resting upon her book...

...and she kept it always, to remind her of her magical journey.

Thank you so much to the lovely and talented Vanessa Valencia for hosting this magical Mad Tea Party! Be sure to visit her blog and check out the rest of the parties!

I am doing a little giveaway as part of the celebration! The winner will receive an 8"x10" print of my painting "Alice in the Forest," as well as 10 handmade clay toadstools made by my mom and her friend Tonya. Simply leave a comment on this post to enter, and please mention that you would like to be entered into the giveaway. I will draw a winner next Saturday, July 2nd.

I would also like to thank my mom Joni, Tonya, and my sister Michelle for a fun day of helping me with the party! We also had another enthusiastic little helper named Rosie, but from the way she is eyeing that fruit tart I think she may have had an ulterior motive ;)

Thank you so much for visiting my little party!! :)
