This one is a 9"x12," which is actually one of the largest paintings I have ever done (though not really that big for most people :) I really enjoyed it, since I usually only do 5x7s or 8x10s. I may do some more larger ones in the near future. I fiddled with this painting for a few days--I changed the background probably 3 0r 4 times. In the end I kept it pretty simple, and decided that she looked nice against a darker background than I usually do. She is waiting for a new home in my shop :)
so sweet and celestial, a perfect name for her!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to have a print of the Day of the Dead girl with the top hat in your shop? If so then I will hold out for her, and if not then I will probably buy one of the other lovely ladies!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started working bigger (I was doing 11x14 watercolors for the longest time) I found it so much easier to get all the details in that I wanted without having to have the steadiest hand in the world :) The down-side was that they took longer to complete....
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you're adapting well to size and style differences.....your recent works have been really eye-catching! I love what you do....so, keep 'em coming!! :-D
Oh, she is so beautiful! I agree - the dark background is great for her. It makes her look absolutely luminous. I love the way you draw your faces.
ReplyDeleteWow - she came out so beautifully. I love her paleness against the dark background. And her little wings are so perfect and delicate. Congrats! Theresa
ReplyDeleteCeleste, is so beautiful and i like the idea of creating on bigger canvas.
ReplyDeleteYour choice of darker background was excellent, because she pops up to our eyes.. (i hope i expressed my thought correctly, sorry for my english) :)
